The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152T-0103 is a cobalt spade drill insert engineered for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Sized at 1-3/32 inches in diameter and built to Seat Size 2, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiN (titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process. The T15 cobalt material grade provides elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS inserts. The TiN coating reduces friction and extends tool life in production drilling environments. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with spade drill holders in the T-A series will find this insert a direct-fit replacement blade for that system.
This insert is designed for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers, lathes with driven tooling, and manual drill press setups where a T-A series spade drill holder is already in service. The 132-degree point geometry is well suited for harder materials and work-hardening alloys where a more acute point angle helps reduce thrust and improve chip control. Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician familiar with spade drill holder systems. Ensure the holder and machine spindle are fully powered down and locked out before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct T-A series torx or hex key to secure the insert screw to the manufacturer-specified procedure — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the holder seat for chips, burrs, or wear before installing a new blade to ensure proper seating and runout.
