The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152A-0111 is a T-A Series spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 1-11/32 inches in diameter and seats in a Size 2 holder. The insert is manufactured from cobalt and carries a TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) PVD coating applied to extend tool life and maintain cutting edge integrity at elevated temperatures. At 0.1875 inches thick and weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, precision-ground insert intended for production drilling environments. Machinists and tooling technicians working in CNC and manual drilling operations are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium — workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. It fits within the T-A Series modular spade drill system, where the insert mounts into a compatible Size 2 blade holder. Typical applications include production shops, job shops, and aerospace or heavy manufacturing environments where material hardness and tool life are primary concerns. The TiAlN coating makes it especially well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting conditions at higher surface speeds.
Designed for use with T-A Series Size 2 spade drill blade holders. Compatible with workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (super-alloys and titanium) per ISO material classification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the blade holder seat is clean and free of chips or debris before inserting, as contamination can cause improper seating and premature insert failure. Follow the holder manufacturer torque guidelines for the retention screw — do not overtighten.
