The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151T-24 is a cobalt spade drill insert engineered for high-performance hole-making in demanding industrial machining applications. Part of the T-A Series, this insert measures 24 mm in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle that promotes accurate entry and stable cutting geometry. The material grade is T15 cobalt, and the insert carries a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating that reduces friction, extends tool life, and improves surface finish. At 0.1563 inches thick and weighing approximately 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, precision-ground component designed for seat size 1 T-A Series drill bodies. Machinists and toolroom professionals specify this insert for production drilling where tool life and dimensional consistency are priorities.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is appropriate for both general manufacturing and high-volume production environments where spade drilling replaces twist drilling for cost efficiency and deeper hole capability. Typical applications include structural components, flanges, valve bodies, and aerospace hardware requiring accurate, clean-bottomed through-holes or blind holes. The T-A Series platform is a modular system, allowing the insert to be swapped without replacing the holder body, which reduces per-hole tooling cost in production runs.
Designed for use with T-A Series seat size 1 spade drill holders. Compatible with workpiece materials classified under ISO groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (super-alloys and titanium). Confirm holder seat size before ordering.
Installation is performed by machining professionals or toolroom technicians familiar with indexable spade drill systems. Before inserting or removing the blade, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and all stored energy is released per facility LOTO procedures. Use the correct insert screw torque driver specified by the holder manufacturer — do not over-torque the insert clamp screw, as this can damage the seat. Inspect the holder pocket for chips, burrs, or wear before seating a new insert to maintain proper blade support and runout.
