The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151T-23 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for use in T-A series spade drill holders. It features a 23 mm cutting diameter, a 132-degree point angle, and a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiN coating over a T15 cobalt substrate. This combination delivers solid wear resistance and heat tolerance across a range of demanding drilling applications. The insert seats in a Seat Size 1 holder and is replaced as a consumable when worn, keeping tooling costs predictable. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium-based materials, covering ISO workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. It is suited for through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations on CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and manual drill presses where spade drill holders are in use. The T-A series is a widely adopted modular spade drilling system, and this insert is a direct consumable component within that system. Its 0.1563-inch thickness maintains consistent seating geometry across insert changes.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 1 spade drill holders. Rated for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and super-alloys and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, and S).
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist following the tool manufacturer's holder torque and seating procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Inspect the holder seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination affects seating geometry and can cause insert failure or workpiece damage. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when operating spade drill assemblies at rated feeds and speeds.
