The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151T-0030 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built from cobalt steel at material grade T15, this insert features a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiN coating that reduces friction and extends tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The 132-degree point angle suits a wide range of materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. At 0.1563 inches thickness and sized to Seat Size 1, this insert fits directly into compatible T-A series spade drill holders. It is installed and used by machinists and tool room technicians in production and job shop environments.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials classified under ISO codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (superalloys and titanium). It is well suited to drilling operations in general machining, aerospace component work, and heavy manufacturing where consistent hole geometry and insert durability are required. The fractional inch sizing makes it compatible with standard inch-based tooling setups common in North American shops.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holder bodies accepting a Seat Size 1 insert. Suitable for fractional inch tooling setups. Refer to the Allied Machine and Engineering T-A series holder selection guide for confirmed holder compatibility.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool room personnel. Before changing inserts, confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Seat the insert fully into the holder pocket and secure with the appropriate clamping screw to the holder manufacturer's specified torque, using only the correct wrench or key for the fastener type. Inspect the seating surface and holder pocket for chips or damage before each insert change to ensure accurate seating and safe operation.
