The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151N-.765 is a spade drill insert engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. Manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) PVD coating, this insert delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to uncoated alternatives. It measures 49/64 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle and a thickness of 0.1563 inches. The T-A series design seats into a Seat Size 1 holder, providing a secure, repeatable fit. This insert is intended for use by machinists and tooling specialists in production drilling operations across a range of ferrous and exotic workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium workpieces, corresponding to ISO material classifications P, M, K, and S. It is applicable in CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and manual drill press setups where consistent hole quality and insert interchangeability are required. The T-A series platform is a widely adopted spade drill system used in high-volume production and job shop environments alike.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 1 spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium (ISO classifications P, M, K, and S).
Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the holder pocket and insert seat are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the correct insert screw torque driver recommended by the holder manufacturer — do not overtighten or use impact tools on the insert fastener. Inspect the seating surface for wear or damage at each insert change to maintain positional accuracy.
