The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151N-.734 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Manufactured from cobalt tool steel and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) PVD coating, this insert delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard high-speed steel inserts. It measures 47/64 inches in diameter and seats in a Size 1 holder from the T-A Series system. The 132-degree point angle provides a self-centering entry suited for flat-bottomed and through-hole drilling in production environments. Machinists and tooling technicians in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing will find this insert sized and coated for demanding cycle demands.
This insert fits Size 1 T-A Series spade drill holders and is engineered for use in materials classified under ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. That covers carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. It is well suited to CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drilling machines where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities. Packaged as a single insert, it is a direct replacement unit for T-A Series tooling already in service.

Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully de-energized and locked out before accessing the spindle or toolholder. Inspect the holder seat for wear, chips, or debris before seating the new insert, as a contaminated seat will affect runout and hole quality. Torque the insert screw according to the holder manufacturer specification plate or documentation — do not estimate fastener torque. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when changing cutting inserts.
