The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151N-0030 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Part of the T-A Series, this insert measures 15/16 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle and a thickness of 0.1563 inches. It carries a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating applied via PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance. The Seat Size 1 designation matches it to compatible T-A Series spade drill bodies. Machinists and tooling specialists install this insert when drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium workpieces.
This insert is suited for production and job-shop drilling operations where through-coolant or flood-coolant spade drill bodies are in use. The T-A Series platform is a common choice in general metalworking, aerospace component machining, and heavy-equipment manufacturing environments where consistent hole geometry and tool life are priorities. Its cobalt substrate and TiCN coating make it appropriate for both ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloy materials across a range of cutting conditions.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 1 spade drill bodies. Compatible primary workpiece material codes include P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (super-alloys and titanium) per ISO material classification.
Installation of spade drill inserts should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Ensure the drill body seat is clean and free of chips or debris before installing the insert, as contamination can affect seating and concentricity. Follow the tool body manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications for the Seat Size 1 body when securing the insert.
