The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150T-.578 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 37/64 inch diameter, a 132-degree point angle, and is manufactured from T15 cobalt high-speed steel for excellent wear resistance and heat tolerance at elevated cutting speeds. A physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiN coating reduces friction and extends tool life. At 0.125 inches thick, this Seat Size 0 insert fits the T-A series spade drill body system and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The T-A series system separates the drill body from the cutting insert, allowing the insert to be replaced independently without scrapping the holder. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses where consistent hole geometry and tool life are critical. The 132-degree point angle is well-matched to harder workpiece materials that require a more aggressive cutting geometry.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 0 spade drill bodies. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium per material codes P, M, K, and S.
Spade drill inserts are installed and replaced by machinists or toolroom technicians. Before changing an insert, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate insert-seating tool or torque wrench recommended for the T-A series body to secure the insert — refer to the drill body manufacturer's documentation for seating specifications. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and runout.
