The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150T-0022-FB is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Measuring 11/16 inches in diameter with a 0.125-inch thickness, this insert features a 180-degree point angle and a TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating for extended tool life and reduced heat buildup at the cutting edge. It belongs to Allied's T-A Series, a widely used replaceable-insert spade drill system. Machinists and tool-crib professionals install this insert into compatible T-A Series spade drill holders on CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses.
This insert is rated for use across a broad range of primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. The 180-degree flat point geometry suits through-hole and interrupted-cut applications where a standard point angle would require spot-drilling first. It is a Seat Size 0 insert, positioning it at the smaller end of the T-A Series insert range, suitable for compact bore diameters in production or job-shop environments.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 0 spade drill holders from Allied Machine and Engineering. Verify holder seat size and diameter range before ordering to ensure proper seating and clamping.
Insert replacement is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate T-A Series insert screw and driver to seat the insert firmly against the holder pocket — do not overtighten or use impact tools on the clamping screw. Inspect the holder pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert, as debris under the insert will cause runout and premature edge failure. Always handle cobalt inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to installation.
