The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150N-.515 is a T-A series spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Measuring 33/64 inches in diameter with a 0.125-inch thickness, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel for superior heat and wear resistance. The TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) PVD coating adds hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge. Seat Size 0 positions this insert at the smaller end of the T-A series range. Machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production drilling operations rely on inserts like this for repeatable, precise hole entry in tough workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. It is a direct-replacement blade for compatible T-A series spade drill holders, making it well-suited for production environments where insert changeouts need to be fast and consistent. The cobalt substrate combined with TiCN coating makes it particularly effective when cutting work-hardening materials such as stainless steel and titanium alloys where standard high-speed steel tooling degrades quickly.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 0 spade drill holder bodies. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium as indicated by material codes P, M, K, and S.
Spade drill insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the holder seat is clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the insert, as debris under the blade affects runout and hole quality. Torque the insert retention screw to the holder manufacturer's specification — do not estimate. Inspect the holder seat for wear or damage each time an insert is changed.
