The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150N-0020 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Sized at 5/8 inch diameter with a Seat Size 0 configuration, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a PVD-applied TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that extends tool life by reducing friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. At 0.125 inches thick and weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, precision-ground insert engineered for use in the T-A series modular spade drill system. Machinists and tool-crib professionals working in production shops rely on this insert for consistent, repeatable bore diameters.
This insert is suited for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium — covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. The T-A series system is a common choice in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses where indexable tooling is preferred over solid drills. Typical install scenarios include high-volume production boring, interrupted cuts, and through-hole drilling where insert replaceability reduces overall tooling cost and downtime.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING T-A series spade drill holders accepting Seat Size 0 inserts. Suitable for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium.
Insert seating and torquing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the holder manufacturer's assembly procedure. Ensure the drill holder bore and seat surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Confirm all machine spindle locks and tool-change safeties are engaged before handling or replacing inserts. Do not exceed the cutting parameters specified in the T-A series application guide for the workpiece material being drilled.
