The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150A-0020 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the T-A Series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) PVD coating that extends tool life under heat and abrasion. The insert measures 5/8 inch in diameter with a Seat Size 0 designation and a thickness of 0.125 inches. Weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, single-use replaceable cutting element suited for production drilling environments where consistent geometry and coating integrity are critical to cycle times and surface finish.
This insert is intended for use in T-A Series spade drill holders with a Seat Size 0 bore body. It is optimized for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. Machinists and tool-room technicians working in manufacturing, job shops, and heavy industrial settings will find this insert suitable for interrupted cuts, through-coolant applications, and high-feed drilling programs where cobalt substrate toughness and TiAlN coating hardness provide a measurable advantage over standard high-speed steel alternatives.
Designed for use with T-A Series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 0 insert. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S).
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Seat surfaces on the drill body should be inspected and cleaned before seating a new insert to ensure proper clamping and geometry. Follow the drill body manufacturer torque and clamping screw specifications for the T-A Series holder. Handle cobalt cutting inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to installation.
