The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 132T-0100 is a T-A series spade drill insert designed for high-production drilling applications in metalworking environments. Manufactured from M4 high speed steel and finished with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this insert delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The insert measures 1 inch in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, and has a seat size 2 profile with a thickness of 0.1875 inches. It is installed and serviced by machinists and tooling technicians in shop and production settings.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The T-A spade drill system is widely used in CNC machining centers, lathes, and manual drilling setups where replaceable insert tooling is preferred over solid-body drills. The 132-degree point geometry is a general-purpose angle that performs well across the primary workpiece materials listed, reducing the need for separate tooling when transitioning between material types in mixed-production environments.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 2, 1 inch diameter insert. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals per manufacturer specification.
Spade drill inserts are installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians. Before changing the insert, ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle is locked per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert firmly in the holder and torque the clamping screw to the holder manufacturer's specification using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert, as debris in the pocket can cause insert misalignment and premature failure.
