The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 10244-0204 is a spade drill insert engineered for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining environments. Manufactured from CPM-M4 powdered metal, this insert delivers the wear resistance and toughness required for production drilling in steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. It features a 130-degree point angle optimized for entry stability and chip evacuation, a 2-1/8 inch cutting diameter, and a Seat Size D blade seat designation for direct fitment into compatible Allied Machine spade drill holders. The uncoated finish makes it suitable for applications where coatings are unnecessary or where regrinding and reuse are standard practice. Installed by machinists and tool room technicians in CNC and manual drilling operations.
This insert is suited for use in industrial machining applications including production drilling of steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Typical installation scenarios include CNC machining centers, radial arm drills, and manual drill presses where large-diameter through-holes or blind holes are required. The Seat Size D designation targets mid-to-large diameter applications, making this insert a practical choice for shops running structural, fabrication, or heavy component machining work. The uncoated CPM-M4 grade performs well in moderate cutting speeds and is compatible with flood coolant delivery.
Designed for use with Seat Size D spade drill holders accepting a 2-1/8 inch diameter insert. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals as designated by material codes P, N, and K.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the drill holder and spindle are fully de-energized and the machine is locked out before seating or removing the insert. Inspect the blade seat for debris or damage before installation to ensure proper insert contact and runout control. Follow the holder manufacturer torque and clamping specifications for the Seat Size D interface.
