The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1021T-0105 is a spade drill insert designed for use in modular spade drilling systems where replaceable cutting inserts are used in place of solid drill bodies. This insert measures 1-5/32 inches in diameter and is manufactured from High Speed Steel with a TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating to extend cutting edge life and reduce heat buildup at the cutting zone. The 130-degree point angle makes it well suited for flat-bottomed entry and exit on a range of workpiece materials. Seat Size A designates the compatible blade holder series. Machinists, tool crib technicians, and production drilling operators install and swap these inserts as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is appropriate for drilling operations in steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, covering material classification codes P, K, and N. It is used in both manual and CNC machining environments where spade drill systems are employed for hole diameters in the 1-inch-plus range. The TiN coating improves performance in ferrous materials by reducing built-up edge and extending tool life between changes. The insert seats into a Size A spade drill blade holder and is packaged individually.
Designed for use with Series A spade drill blade holders. Compatible with workpiece materials classified as steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals (material codes P, K, and N).
Spade drill inserts are installed and removed by a machinist or tooling technician as part of standard tooling changeover. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder secured before inserting or removing the blade. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can affect runout and cutting performance. Follow the blade holder manufacturer torque and clamping specifications when securing the insert in the holder.
