The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING HTA2A12-125F is an indexable spade drill designed for high-performance deep-hole drilling across a wide range of workpiece materials. It accepts spade drill inserts and covers a diameter range of 0.961 to 1.38 inches, making it well-suited for applications requiring flexibility without tool changes. The 1-1/4 inch flatted shank provides secure tool holding in standard drill chucks and holders. At 18.23 inches overall length with a 15.95 inch body length, this is an extra-long configuration engineered for reaching deep into workpieces. Through-coolant capability via axial concentric entry keeps the cutting zone clear of chips and maintains consistent temperature at depth.
This spade drill body is built for production and job-shop environments where a single tool must handle multiple hole diameters across steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous, and superalloy materials. The T-A Pro 2 Series designation indicates compatibility with Allied Machine T-A Pro 2 spade drill inserts. The 12xD drill depth to diameter ratio and straight flute geometry support deep-hole drilling strategies in vertical machining centers, horizontal boring mills, and CNC lathes with live tooling. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer typically sets feeds, speeds, and coolant pressure before running this tool.
The HTA2A12-125F is part of the T-A Pro 2 Series and accepts T-A Pro 2 indexable spade drill inserts covering the stated diameter range. It is compatible with workpiece material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H as designated by ISO material classification. Designed for use with 1-1/4 inch shank toolholders in machining centers, boring mills, and CNC turning centers with live tooling.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Confirm that the machine spindle and toolholder are rated for the body length and maximum drill diameter before mounting. Verify through-coolant pressure settings match the insert and material requirements specified in the T-A Pro 2 Series application guide. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts or adjusting the body in the holder.
