The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 7C226P-0104 is a solid carbide spade drill insert engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. With a 1-1/8 inch cutting diameter and a 140-degree point angle, this insert delivers precise entry geometry and controlled chip formation. It carries the AM300 PVD coating and belongs to the GEN3SYS XT series, a system designed for indexable spade drilling where insert changes are made without removing the holder from the machine. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians working in CNC turning centers, machining centers, and drill presses specify this insert for its consistent dimensional accuracy and coating durability.
This insert is rated for use in stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium, making it suited for aerospace, heavy equipment, oil and gas, and precision-machined-component applications. The GEN3SYS XT platform is an indexable spade drill system, and this insert fits Seat Size 26 holders in that series. It is a fractional-inch system insert and is sold individually. It is appropriate for shops running tight-tolerance through-holes and blind holes where carbide grade C2 (ISO K20 equivalent) tooling is specified.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING GEN3SYS XT series spade drill holders accepting Seat Size 26 inserts. Workpiece material compatibility includes stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and super-alloys and titanium (S) per ISO material classification codes provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool-room technician following the machine tool manufacturer lockout and zero-energy procedures before any insert change. Seat Size 26 holders must be inspected for seat wear, debris, and torx or clamping screw condition before seating the insert. Torque the clamping fastener to the holder manufacturer specification only. Never regrind or modify solid carbide spade inserts in the field.
