The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 4C21P-0029 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Built to GEN2 T-A series specifications, it features a 132-degree point angle and a Seat Size 1 designation. The insert is coated with AM300 via a PVD process, a coating classification suited for extended tool life in abrasive and hard-to-machine workpiece materials. At 0.1563 inches thick and 29/32 inch in diameter, this insert mounts into compatible T-A series spade drill holders and is typically installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is rated for use in stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium. It carries a manufacturer grade of C2 (K20), making it appropriate for interrupted cuts and variable-hardness workpieces. Typical applications include deep-hole drilling operations on CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and manual boring mills where replaceable-insert spade drills are preferred over solid-shank tooling for cost-effective operation.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders accepting Seat Size 1 inserts at 29/32 inch diameter. Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metal (N), and super-alloys and titanium (S) per ISO material classification codes provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the spade drill insert. Verify seat cleanliness and insert seating before torquing the retention screw to the holder manufacturer's specification. Do not force the insert into a mismatched seat size, as improper fitment can result in insert breakage or workpiece damage.
