Measuring 1-9/16 inches in diameter with a Seat Size 3 designation, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a PVD-applied titanium nitride (TiN) coating. It belongs to the GEN2 T-A series and is manufactured to a Material Grade M4 cobalt specification. At 0.25 inches thick, it delivers edge toughness and heat resistance needed when drilling through hard or abrasive workpiece materials. Installation requires a compatible T-A spade drill holder. This insert is sized and seated for production drilling in machine shop, job shop, and manufacturing environments.
The 453T-0118 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its ISO workpiece material classifications cover P, M, K, S, and H grades, making it a versatile choice across a broad range of ferrous and exotic alloys. Designed for use with compatible GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Seat Size 3 insert. Suitable for primary workpiece materials classified as P, M, K, S, and H per ISO material coding, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Insert replacement and seating should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is secured in a vise or tool block before changing inserts. Verify the holder seat is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can affect runout and hole quality. Follow the holder manufacturer's torque specifications for the insert clamping screw.
