The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 453H-0115 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to Super Cobalt grade standards and coated with AM200 via a PVD process, this insert delivers consistent edge life and thermal resistance in tough materials. The 132-degree point angle reduces thrust and improves centering accuracy at entry. At 0.25 inches thick and 1-15/32 inches in diameter, it fits Seat Size 3 T-A style holders. Weighing 0.1 pounds, it is a direct drop-in for compatible holders used in production machining environments. Licensed machinists and tool engineers working in steel, stainless, or hard-material applications are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for use in the GEN2 T-A spade drill system. It is suited for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials across P, M, K, S, and H workpiece material classifications. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole production drilling on CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses in industrial and job-shop environments. The AM200 PVD coating helps extend tool life in high-heat, high-friction cutting conditions common in those materials.
Designed for use with Seat Size 3 GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as classified under ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the holder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the seat. Inspect the holder seat for wear or damage before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
