The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 451H-0028-HE is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. With a 7/8-inch diameter and a 132-degree point angle, this insert seats in a Size 1 holder and is part of the GEN2 T-A series. The AM200 PVD coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation, extending tool life in abrasive or high-heat cutting environments. At 0.02 pounds, it is a compact, precision-ground insert suited for production drilling operations where consistency and insert-to-insert repeatability are critical. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is appropriate for both job-shop and production-floor environments where a single insert geometry must handle varied material types. The GEN2 T-A platform is a modular spade drilling system, meaning the insert seats into a reusable T-A style holder rather than a disposable drill body, reducing tooling cost per hole over high-volume runs.
Designed for use with GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders accepting a Size 1 seat. Compatible with workpiece materials classified under ISO groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), S (super-alloys and titanium), and H (hard materials).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the holder manufacturer's torque and seating procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in the holder before insert changeout. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Always reference the holder manufacturer's documentation for correct clamping hardware and recommended cutting parameters for the target workpiece material.
