The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 24010H-004IS052 is an indexable spade drill designed for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel workpieces. It accepts standard T-A SS 1 series spade blade inserts and delivers a nominal drill diameter of 13/16 inches with a maximum drill depth of 4-3/4 inches. The body features a helical flute configuration that promotes efficient chip evacuation during deep-hole operations. Through-coolant delivery is supported via axial concentric and radial coolant entry, keeping the cutting zone cool during extended drilling cycles. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians on drilling machines, machining centers, and lathes equipped with a No. 4 Morse taper spindle.
This spade drill body is suited for general-purpose drilling in steel and similar ferrous materials at standard depth-to-diameter ratios. The 4MT taper shank seats directly into a matching taper spindle or drill chuck adapter, making it a practical choice for production drilling on manual and CNC machine tools where rigid, repeatable setup is required. The standard-length body and overall length keep deflection minimal at the rated maximum depth of 4-3/4 inches. Operators working in job shops, production machining cells, or toolroom environments will find this a direct-fit body for replacing worn T-A SS 1 series drill bodies without retooling the setup.
Designed to accept T-A SS 1 series indexable spade blade inserts. The 4MT taper shank is compatible with machine spindles and adapters that accept a No. 4 Morse taper. Primary workpiece material designation is P-code steel.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Before mounting or removing the drill body, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the Morse taper shank firmly into the spindle bore and verify the drift slot alignment before engaging coolant lines. Confirm through-coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine tool manufacturer's specifications before starting the cut.
