The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C20T-0022 is a carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. It features an 11/16 inch diameter, a 132-degree point angle, and a TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating applied over a C2 (K20) carbide grade substrate. The TiN coating extends cutting edge life and reduces built-up edge when drilling difficult materials. This insert fits the T-A spade drill system and seats in a Seat Size 0 holder. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 132-degree point geometry is optimized for these material groups, providing stable entry and controlled chip formation. The T-A series is a widely used indexable spade drill platform in both manual and CNC machining centers. The 0.125 inch insert thickness maintains rigidity in the holder pocket during high-feed operations.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 0 spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), superalloys, and titanium (S) per ISO material grade classification.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the holder manufacturer to seat the insert securely in the pocket. Inspect the holder seat for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Improper seating can cause insert movement, poor hole quality, or premature insert failure.
