The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 182T-0106 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole making in demanding industrial applications. Measuring 1-3/16 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle, this insert features a PVD-applied TiN (titanium nitride) coating that reduces friction and extends cutting life. It fits a Seat Size 2 blade holder and belongs to the T-A series, a widely adopted platform in production drilling. The insert is 0.1875 inches thick and weighs approximately 0.1 pounds. Machinists and tool-room professionals install this insert as part of a modular spade drill assembly on CNC lathes, machining centers, or drill presses.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials — covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. It is a strong choice for production environments where tool changes must be fast and consistent hole quality is required across multiple workpiece materials. The T-A series spade drill system is common in automotive, aerospace, energy, and general manufacturing operations where deep-hole or large-diameter drilling is performed at high feed rates.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 2 spade drill blade holders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation of spade drill inserts is performed by machinists or tool-room technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or removing the insert. The insert must be seated flush and secured per the blade holder manufacturer torque guidance using the correct wrench or key. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or debris before installation to prevent insert rocking or premature failure.
