The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152T-0100-SP is a cobalt spade drill insert engineered for use in T-A series spade drill bodies. Measuring 1 inch in diameter with a 90-degree point angle and a thickness of 0.1875 inches, this insert features a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life by reducing friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. Seat Size 2 ensures proper indexing and secure seating in compatible T-A series holders. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators install these inserts in production and job-shop drilling operations where repeatable hole quality and cost-effective insert replacement are priorities.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium workpieces, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drill presses where the T-A modular spade drill system is already in use. The TiN coating makes this insert a practical choice for moderate to high-speed drilling in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys without the cost of indexable carbide tooling.
Designed for use with Allied Machine and Engineering T-A series spade drill bodies accepting Seat Size 2 inserts. Confirmed compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium (ISO material groups P, M, K, and S).
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct insert screw and torque driver specified by Allied Machine and Engineering for the T-A series holder to prevent insert movement during cutting. Inspect the insert seat and holder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Do not attempt to resharpen TiN-coated spade drill inserts, as regrinding removes the coating and alters the point geometry.
