The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150T-16.5 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in metalworking applications. It carries a 16.5 mm diameter and a 132-degree point angle, making it suited for precise entry and chip control in demanding materials. The insert is manufactured from T15 cobalt material grade and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating, which increases surface hardness and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. It seats in a Series T-A holder at Seat Size 0. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and production drilling operators are the primary users.
This insert is intended for use in ferrous and high-strength materials across industrial drilling operations. It is rated for primary workpiece materials that include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. Typical install scenarios include production machining centers, CNC drill presses, and manual radial arm drills where a T-A series spade drill body is already in service. The 132-degree point angle suits flat-bottomed entry and reduces thrust in medium-to-hard material grades.
Designed for use with T-A Series spade drill holders at Seat Size 0. Compatible primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the drill body and spindle are fully de-energized and locked out before seating or removing the insert. Verify that the holder seat is clean and free of chips before clamping the insert. Follow the drill body manufacturer's torque and clamping guidelines for Seat Size 0 inserts.
