The AIRREX AHSC-42R is a self-contained portable heat pump engineered for demanding commercial, construction, and restoration environments. It delivers 42,000 BTU/h of cooling capacity and 47,000 BTU/h of heating capacity in a single-phase, 220-volt unit. The unit runs on R-454B refrigerant, a lower global warming potential alternative to legacy refrigerants such as R-410A. Rated at 3.5 tons, the AHSC-42R is designed for spaces up to approximately 1,400 square feet. It includes built-in dehumidification and connects to 16-inch supply and return ducts. Licensed HVAC technicians handle specification, installation, and commissioning of this class of equipment.
The AHSC-42R is suited for temporary or semi-permanent climate control in commercial buildings, active construction sites, restoration projects, warehouses, and large event spaces. The unit operates in cool mode across ambient air temperatures of 65 degrees F to 113 degrees F, and in heat mode from 50 degrees F to 81 degrees F. Its wheeled, caster-mounted chassis allows repositioning on job sites without fixed infrastructure, making it a practical choice when permanent ductwork or split systems are not available or practical.
Designed as a standalone portable heat pump for temporary or supplemental HVAC applications in commercial, construction, and restoration environments requiring single-phase 220-volt power and 3.5-ton capacity.
Installation and commissioning should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician familiar with portable packaged equipment and R-454B refrigerant handling. Before servicing or relocating the unit, disconnect power at the source and follow applicable lockout/tagout procedures. The unit requires a dedicated 220-volt circuit; consult local electrical codes and NEC requirements for proper conductor sizing. Duct connections should be sealed adequately to prevent short-cycling of supply and return air.
