The AIRREX AHSC-18R is a self-contained, portable heat pump designed for temporary or permanent climate control in spaces where a fixed HVAC system is not practical or available. Rated at 16,800 BTU/h in cooling and 18,500 BTU/h in heating, this 1.5-ton unit runs on a standard 115-volt, 60 Hz, single-phase circuit and uses R-454B refrigerant. It operates in four modes: cooling, heating, fan-only, and dehumidification. The floor-standing, fully self-contained design requires no permanent installation. HVAC technicians and facilities maintenance professionals typically deploy this unit in server rooms, construction sites, event spaces, and other environments requiring flexible climate control.
The AHSC-18R suits both residential and light commercial temporary cooling and heating applications. Its portable design makes it well-suited for spot cooling and heating in warehouses, equipment rooms, retail spaces, and job sites where a standard split or packaged system cannot be installed quickly. The selectable temperature range spans 61 degrees F to 115 degrees F in cooling mode and 46 degrees F to 81 degrees F in heating mode, covering a wide range of operating environments. Dehumidification mode adds utility in wet or recently flooded spaces. Dual discharge nozzles and a washable filter are included to support flexible deployment and routine field maintenance.
Designed as a standalone portable heat pump operating on a dedicated 115-volt, 20-amp circuit. No fixed ductwork or refrigerant line connections are required. Verify circuit ampacity meets the 20-amp draw requirement before deployment.
Installation and commissioning should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician familiar with portable heat pump equipment and EPA Section 608 refrigerant handling requirements. Before servicing or relocating the unit, power it down completely at the disconnect or outlet and allow the refrigeration system to equalize. Do not tip or lay the unit on its side during transport without consulting manufacturer guidelines, as compressor oil migration can damage the compressor. Ensure the exhaust duct and intake are properly routed and unobstructed during operation.
