The AIREX S1ODD149 is a 12 x 12 x 1 inch disposable fiberglass panel air filter designed for residential and light commercial HVAC and air conditioning applications. It uses Polystrand fiberglass media, a continuous-strand material measuring more than 3.5 microns in diameter, making the fibers non-respirable and safer than standard cut-glass media. The media is fully encapsulated in a protective binder and features a graduated weave: loosely spun on the air-entering side and progressively tighter on the air-exiting side. This construction increases dust-holding capacity, reduces surface loading, and adds structural integrity to the filter pad. The MERV equivalent rating is 4 to 5, appropriate for capturing larger airborne particles in standard forced-air systems.
This filter is intended for use in residential and commercial air conditioning units and forced-air HVAC systems that accept a 12 x 12 x 1 inch panel filter. The graduated media design extends service life compared to flat-media filters by distributing captured particulate through the depth of the media rather than loading only the face. It is installed by HVAC technicians or qualified service professionals as part of routine maintenance. The heavy-duty moisture-resistant white kraft board frame holds its shape in high-humidity return-air environments common to air conditioning systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement disposable panel filter for residential and light commercial air conditioning units and forced-air HVAC systems requiring a 12 x 12 x 1 inch filter size.
Installation is performed by HVAC technicians as part of scheduled filter maintenance. Set the system thermostat to the off position and shut down the air handler or furnace before removing the existing filter. Confirm airflow direction on the new filter and install with the loosely spun side facing the return-air stream. Dispose of the used filter per local waste guidelines; no tools are required for standard filter-rack installations.
