The AIR PRODUCTS CONTROLS sl-2000-p is a photoelectric conventional duct smoke detector designed for early detection of smoke and combustion byproducts in air moving through HVAC ductwork. It operates on the photoelectric sensing principle, making it well suited for detecting slow-smoldering combustion events. Licensed HVAC technicians and fire-alarm contractors install this type of detector as part of duct smoke detection systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings where air-handling equipment requires smoke monitoring.
The sl-2000-p is intended for installation in HVAC duct systems where building codes or life-safety plans require smoke detection within the airstream. Typical applications include air-handling units, fan coil units, and central ducted systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. It operates on a conventional detection circuit, making it compatible with conventional fire alarm control panels.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation duct smoke detector for conventional fire alarm systems used in HVAC duct smoke detection applications.
Installation of duct smoke detectors must be performed by a licensed fire-alarm or HVAC contractor in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, and applicable local codes. Shut down the air-handling unit and de-energize the fire alarm control panel circuit before wiring or mounting the detector. The detector must be mounted in the duct per the manufacturer sampling tube sizing requirements for the duct dimensions. Do not operate the air-handling unit for smoke testing without following the listed test procedure for photoelectric duct detectors.
