The AIR FLOW PRODUCTS MTD1412 is a metal duct conical spin-in takeoff fitting with an integrated damper, designed for use in sheet metal ductwork distribution systems. This fitting provides a secure, low-leak branch connection from a main trunk duct to a branch run, with the built-in damper allowing airflow balancing without the need for a separate balancing device. It is sized at 14 x 12 inches and is typically installed by licensed HVAC sheet metal technicians and mechanical contractors during new construction or system retrofits.
The MTD1412 is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems where round branch takeoffs are required from rectangular or round main trunk ducts. The conical spin-in design seats firmly into a field-cut or knockout opening in the trunk, creating a reliable connection point. The integrated damper blade allows the installing technician to balance supply airflow across multiple branch runs after system commissioning.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for standard metal forced-air duct systems requiring a conical spin-in takeoff with damper at a 14 x 12 inch opening.
Installation is performed by qualified HVAC technicians or sheet metal mechanics. The system blower should be de-energized and the air handler powered down completely before cutting into an existing trunk duct. The spin-in collar is inserted into the field-cut opening and rotated to lock in place per standard sheet metal practice. Seal all connections with UL 181-rated mastic or listed metal duct tape in accordance with applicable mechanical codes.
