The AIR FLOW PRODUCTS MTD108 is a metal duct conical spin-in takeoff fitting with an integrated damper, designed for branch duct connections in low-pressure forced-air HVAC distribution systems. The conical spin-in design allows the fitting to seat securely into a pre-punched or field-cut hole in round or flat oval trunk duct, providing a low-turbulence transition from the main trunk to a branch run. The built-in damper allows airflow balancing at the takeoff point without a separate balancing component. This fitting is sized at 8 inches and is installed by sheet metal mechanics and HVAC technicians during new construction and retrofit ductwork installations.
This takeoff is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air systems where branch duct feeds are taken directly off a main supply trunk. It is commonly used in ceiling plenum applications, horizontal trunk duct runs, and retrofit scenarios where airflow rebalancing is needed at individual branch points.
