The AIR FLOW PRODUCTS MTD1008 is a metal duct conical spin-in takeoff fitting with an integral damper, sized at 10 inches by 8 inches. This fitting is used to branch conditioned air from a main trunk duct into a branch run, and the built-in damper allows the installer to balance airflow at each takeoff point. Fabricated from sheet metal, it installs directly into a round knockout or cut opening in a rectangular or round trunk duct. HVAC sheet metal mechanics and duct installers are the primary trade installing this fitting during new construction and retrofit duct work.
The MTD1008 is suited for low-pressure residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems where a clean, spin-in connection to a branch duct run is required. The conical collar seats firmly into the trunk opening and locks in place with a spin-and-lock action, reducing the need for additional fasteners at the connection point. The integral damper blade allows field adjustment of airflow volume through the branch after installation, supporting duct balancing without separate damper hardware.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems requiring a conical spin-in takeoff with integral damper at a 10-inch by 8-inch transition point.
Installation is performed by a qualified HVAC sheet metal mechanic or duct installer. Shut down the air handling unit and confirm the system is de-energized before cutting into an existing trunk duct. The conical collar is inserted into the prepared round opening and rotated to engage the locking tabs; seal the perimeter with UL 181-rated foil tape or mastic sealant to minimize air leakage. Adjust the integral damper blade after system startup during the duct balancing procedure.
