The AIR FLOW PRODUCTS 84ATD10 is an airtight stick-on takeoff fitting with an integrated damper, designed for use with flat duct systems. This fitting creates a branch connection point directly from flat duct, allowing airflow to be directed into a branch run while maintaining a sealed, airtight joint at the connection point. The built-in damper provides on-site airflow balancing without requiring a separate balancing damper downstream. HVAC sheet metal installers and duct fabricators are the primary trade installing this type of fitting on residential and light commercial duct systems.
The 84ATD10 is sized at 10 inches and suits flat duct trunk lines where branch takeoffs are needed at defined intervals. It is well suited for residential forced-air heating and cooling distribution systems and light commercial applications where flat oval or flat rectangular duct runs are the primary distribution method. The stick-on installation method speeds layout and reduces the need for cutting and fitting separate collars, making it a practical choice for production installs and service replacement work alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for flat duct systems in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC applications.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal mechanics. The air handling system and associated electrical controls must be powered down before duct work begins. The stick-on mating surface should be clean and free of debris before seating the fitting to ensure an airtight seal. Local mechanical codes and ASHRAE 62.2 or SMACNA duct construction standards may govern duct tightness requirements and installation practice.
