The AEROFLEX 298-ac1412 is a closed-cell EPDM foam rubber pipe insulation tube designed to thermally protect straight runs of small-diameter copper and stainless steel pipe or tubing. With a 1/4 inch inside diameter, 1/2 inch wall thickness, and a 6 foot factory-cut length, this tube delivers an R-value of 2.04 without requiring a separate vapor barrier. The unslit form means the tube must be threaded onto pipe during installation rather than wrapped around existing lines. Licensed mechanical and plumbing contractors install this product on refrigerant suction lines, chilled water lines, domestic cold water lines, and other applications where condensation control and thermal efficiency are priorities.
This insulation tube is suited for residential and light commercial mechanical systems where pipe diameters are small and runs are relatively straight. The 6 foot factory-cut length reduces field fabrication time. Its temperature range of -297 degrees F to 300 degrees F makes it appropriate for both low-temperature refrigeration applications and standard HVAC plumbing. The plenum rating allows installation in air-handling spaces where smoke and flame spread compliance is required by local mechanical codes.
Sized for 1/4 inch copper tube OD with a 1/4 inch inside diameter fit. Suitable for copper and stainless steel pipe and tubing. Designed as an OEM-style insulation tube for use in refrigeration, HVAC, and plumbing applications requiring a 1/4 inch ID unslit tube format.
This unslit tube must be slid onto pipe or tubing before fittings are installed, or the pipe run must be accessible for threading. Installers should follow local mechanical codes and ASTM standards referenced on the product for proper application and adhesive use at joints and seams. Shut down and isolate any refrigerant or fluid system before working on pipe insulation in pressurized or active lines. Do not stretch the tube excessively during installation, as distortion can reduce effective wall thickness and thermal performance.
