The ACORN SW-MW3G250 is a self-piercing, sealing tapping screw designed for metal-to-wood fastening in roofing and siding applications. Each screw is manufactured from heat-treated C1022 steel and case hardened for durability under field conditions. The hex washer head measures 1/4 inch across flats and comes with an assembled EPDM washer that conforms to the surface for a secure, weatherproof seal. Twin lead Type 17 point geometry and hi-lo threads reduce drive time and increase pull-out resistance. All screws receive a dacro base coating that meets 1,000-hour salt spray test requirements. This pack contains 250 screws and weighs 4.575 pounds.
These metal-to-wood screws are suited for residential and light commercial roofing and siding installations where a watertight fastener connection is required. The EPDM washer compresses against the substrate on seating, sealing the fastener penetration against moisture intrusion. The self-piercing point eliminates the need for pre-drilling through light-gauge metal panel into wood substrate, speeding installation in panel attachment work. Installers working with metal roofing systems and corrugated or ribbed siding panels will find the hi-lo thread profile particularly effective in wood framing members.
Designed for metal-to-wood fastening in roofing and siding applications where a self-sealing, corrosion-resistant screw is required.
Installation is performed by roofing and siding contractors using a hex-head driver bit matched to the 1/4-inch washer head. Drive screws to snug seating so the EPDM washer contacts the surface without over-compression, which can distort the washer and compromise the seal. Follow applicable building codes and panel manufacturer guidelines for fastener spacing and edge distance. Inspect seated washers after installation to confirm uniform contact around the head perimeter.
