The ACORN SW-MM1212G250 is a #12 x 1-1/2 inch washered self-drilling framing screw engineered for metal-to-metal fastening applications. Manufactured from C1022 steel with a hardened body and Type 3 drill point, this screw drives through light-gauge steel framing without a pilot hole. A 1,000-hour Dacro coating provides galvanic corrosion resistance in exterior and moisture-exposed assemblies. The unslotted indented hex washer head with an EPDM bonded washer creates a weather-resistant, load-bearing connection point. Sold in a 250-count pack. This fastener is installed by framing contractors, metal building erectors, and experienced structural trade workers.
This screw is suited for light-gauge metal framing, metal purlin attachment, and similar structural metal-to-metal connections found in commercial and residential construction. The self-drilling Type 3 point eliminates pre-drilling steps, reducing installation time on repetitive fastening patterns. The EPDM bonded washer distributes load and provides a seal at the fastener head, making it appropriate for roof panel, wall panel, and framing assemblies where moisture infiltration must be controlled.
Designed for metal-to-metal fastening applications including light-gauge steel framing, purlins, and structural panel attachment where a self-drilling hex washer head screw with an EPDM bonded washer is specified.
Installation is performed by qualified framing contractors or sheet metal workers using a hex-drive bit and variable-speed screw gun. Maintain correct RPM to allow the Type 3 drill point to engage cleanly without stripping the head or overdriving the EPDM washer. Follow applicable building code requirements, including IBC fastener schedules and manufacturer-specified fastener spacing for structural assemblies. Do not substitute this fastener in applications requiring stainless steel or a different point type without verifying structural and corrosion requirements.
