The ACCUPRO T4677345 is a spiral flute tap designed to cut 10-32 unified fine threads in blind and through-hole applications. Built from 3% vanadium high speed steel with a nitride finish, this tap delivers extended tool life in demanding production environments. It features a modified bottoming chamfer, allowing threads to be cut close to the bottom of a blind hole. The slow helix spiral flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited for cast iron and similar materials. Three flutes provide a balance of cutting strength and chip clearance. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals rely on this tap for precision threading in ferrous materials.
This tap is intended for use in cast iron material applications where controlled chip flow is critical. The modified bottoming chamfer reduces the thread-free zone at the bottom of blind holes, making it useful in close-tolerance assemblies. With a right-hand thread and right-hand flute direction, it operates with standard clockwise tapping cycles on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual tapping equipment. The H5 thread limit ensures dimensional accuracy within a tight tolerance range appropriate for precision threaded connections.
Designed for threading cast iron workpieces requiring 10-32 unified fine threads. Compatible with standard tapping chucks, CNC rigid tapping setups, and manual tapping handles that accept the 4.93 mm shank diameter.
This tap is installed by machinists and tool-and-die technicians using standard tapping equipment. Ensure the machine spindle or tapping handle is properly aligned to the pilot hole before engaging the tap to prevent thread distortion or breakage. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for cast iron to extend tool life and maintain thread quality. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use, and never force a tap that has stalled in the cut.
