The ACCUPRO T2670622B is a spiral point tap designed for cutting internal threads in through-hole applications. It features a 9/16-18 UNF thread form with a plug chamfer and a Class 2B fit tolerance, making it suitable for standard-tolerance threaded connections. Manufactured from 3 percent vanadium high speed steel (HSS), the tap offers improved wear resistance and toughness over standard M2 HSS. The bright finish provides a clean surface with no coating buildup that could affect dimensional accuracy. With an overall length of 3.59 inches (91.28 mm) and a thread length of 30 mm, this tap is sized for common hand-tap and machine-tap operations. Licensed machinists and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This tap is intended for threading aluminum and similarly machinable materials in through-hole configurations where chip evacuation is a priority. The spiral point geometry pushes chips ahead of the tap and out the far side of the hole, reducing the risk of chip packing in the flutes. It is well suited for production machining, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication work requiring 9/16-18 UNF internal threads. The 3-flute design balances chip clearance with cutting edge strength for use in both manual and CNC tapping setups.
Designed as a standard-style spiral point tap for through-hole 9/16-18 UNF tapping operations, compatible with hand-tap wrenches and machine tap holders accepting a 10.90 mm shank diameter. Rated for aluminum per supplier application data.
This tap is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians using hand tap wrenches or CNC and manual tapping attachments. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for a 9/16-18 UNF thread before tapping begins. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Do not force the tap if resistance increases unexpectedly, as this may indicate chip packing or incorrect hole preparation.
