The ACCUPRO T2660314 is a spiral point tap designed for threading M6 x 1 metric holes in steel workpieces. It features a 3-flute plug chamfer geometry that pushes chips ahead of the cutting action, making it well suited for through-hole tapping operations. Manufactured from 3% Vanadium High Speed Steel, the tap offers improved wear resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS tooling. The bright finish provides a clean, uncoated surface that is appropriate for general-purpose threading applications. With a 65 mm overall length and 19 mm thread length, it fits standard tap holders and is sized for M6 threading tasks in production and maintenance machining environments.
This tap is intended for right-hand threading in steel materials. The plug chamfer style requires a drilled or bored through-hole to allow chips to exit ahead of the tap. It is commonly used in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance repair operations where M6 x 1 metric threads are required in mild to medium-hardness steels. The D4 thread limit provides a controlled fit tolerance appropriate for standard metric fastener engagement. This tap is installed by machinists and tooling technicians using a standard tap holder, collet chuck, or floating tap adapter. Ensure the workpiece is properly fixtured and that the correct M6 x 1 tap drill size has been used prior to tapping. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the material being threaded to prolong tool life. This tap is not designed for blind-hole applications due to its spiral point chip-pushing geometry.
