The ACCUPRO T1634705 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading 3/4-10 UNC holes in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it resists heat buildup and wear during high-torque tapping operations. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of blind holes than a standard plug tap. With a 33-degree helix angle and 4 right-hand flutes, the tool evacuates chips efficiently in through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications. Overall length is 4.25 inches with a thread length of 0.984 inches and a shank diameter of 0.590 inches. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians use this tap in manual and CNC tapping operations.
This tap suits production and maintenance environments where 3/4-10 UNC internal threads are required in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. The cobalt construction makes it a strong choice when carbon steel taps wear prematurely due to material hardness or interrupted cuts. The modified bottoming chamfer typically features 1 to 2 thread leads, making it practical for blind holes where full thread depth close to the bottom is required. The H5 thread limit and 2B/3B class of fit designation ensure threads meet standard tolerance requirements for general mechanical assembly.
Designed as a replacement-style tap for 3/4-10 UNC threading applications in manual tap handles, drill press setups, and CNC tapping cycles that accept a 0.590-inch shank diameter.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance technician should install and operate this tap. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned with the pre-drilled pilot hole before beginning the threading cycle. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Follow shop safety procedures and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when operating drill presses or CNC machining centers.
