The ACCUPRO HX01640410MSC is a keyed drill chuck designed for CNC machining centers and manual milling equipment using a CAT40 integral shank mount. It accepts drill shanks ranging from 0.125 inches (1/8 inch) to 0.625 inches (5/8 inch), covering a broad range of twist drills, step drills, and reamer shanks. The chuck uses a plain bearing design with a taper shank interface and a 57 mm sleeve diameter. A hex 1/4 key engages the chuck for tightening. Maximum spindle speed is 8,000 RPM. Coolant delivery supports both through-body and air/directed coolant configurations (B+AD). The chuck body is steel construction. Installation is performed by machining professionals and CNC setup technicians.
This drill chuck is suited for production drilling operations on vertical machining centers and knee mills equipped with CAT40 toolholding systems. The integral shank mount eliminates a separate arbor, reducing runout and stack height. The 8,000 RPM rating supports moderate-speed drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Closed length is approximately 4.61 inches (117 mm) and open length is approximately 4.33 inches (110 mm), which are relevant dimensions for tool length offset programming and clearance checks at setup. Total indicated runout (TIR) is rated at 0.0012 inches, making this chuck appropriate for applications where hole location and diameter accuracy are critical.
Designed for use with CAT40 spindle toolholding systems on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Compatible with drill shanks from 0.125 inches to 0.625 inches in straight-shank configuration.
Installation of CAT40 toolholders requires a CNC machinist or qualified machine tool technician. The spindle must be powered down and the machine control placed in E-stop or lockout/tagout (LOTO) condition before mounting or removing toolholders. Use the appropriate drawbar torque procedure specified by the machine builder for CAT40 retention knobs. After installation, verify tool length offset and confirm TIR with a test indicator before running production parts.
