The ACCUPRO ACC-RXL12 is a left-hand convex radius cutting tool bit designed for precision radius-turning operations on a lathe. The bit follows the RXL style configuration and features a solid carbide tip for long service life and consistent cutting performance on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The overall length is 3.5 inches with a 0.5-inch tip length, a tip thickness of 0.125 inches, and a 0.5-inch square shank for rigid tool-post mounting. The 3/8-inch convex radius makes it well suited for producing consistent curved profiles and radius blends on turned workpieces. It is installed and used by machinists and toolroom technicians on manual or CNC engine lathes.
This tool bit is applied in metal-turning operations where a convex radius profile must be cut into a workpiece. The left-hand cutting direction means the tool feeds from left to right relative to the operator, making it appropriate for specific facing, shoulder, and radius-blend passes that a right-hand bit cannot reach from the same setup. Typical applications include production turning, toolroom work, and maintenance machining on shafts, flanges, and similar cylindrical components. The solid carbide tip holds an edge longer than high-speed steel under elevated cutting speeds and when machining harder alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tool bit for standard lathe tool posts and holders accepting a 0.5-inch square shank in the RXL style configuration.
Installation is performed by machinists on engine lathes or toolroom lathes equipped with a tool post or quick-change tool holder sized for a 0.5-inch square shank. Always bring the machine to a complete stop and isolate power before mounting or removing tool bits. Set tool height to centerline of the workpiece and verify clamping torque is sufficient to prevent movement under cutting load. Inspect the carbide tip for chips or cracks before each use, as a damaged tip can cause workpiece defects or tool failure.
