The ACCUPRO ACC-RC312060 is a single point tool bit designed for cut-off and grooving operations on manual and CNC lathes. Built with a solid carbide tip brazed to the shank, this RC-style bit delivers consistent edge retention and dimensional accuracy in production turning environments. The shank measures 5/16 inches wide by 5/16 inches tall with a 6-inch overall length. The tip is 0.060 inches wide and 0.060 inches thick, making it well suited for narrow parting and grooving passes. Right-hand cutting direction means it feeds toward the chuck from the operator side. Machinists, tool and die makers, and production lathe operators are the primary users of this tooling.
This tool bit is intended for use in cut-off and grooving applications on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in typical lathe setups. The RC tool bit style is a widely used geometry in job shops and production facilities where standard shank sizes and carbide tip inserts are preferred over brazed HSS alternatives. The 5/16-inch shank fits standard tool holders and boring bar blocks sized for that cross-section. It is appropriate for both light production runs and intermittent shop use where reliable parting geometry is required.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for RC-style single point tool bit applications requiring a 5/16-inch shank cross-section and a 0.060-inch solid carbide tip. Industry standard number RC-312060 identifies the geometry for cross-reference with compatible tool holders accepting 5/16-inch shank tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool and die technicians. Secure the shank firmly in the tool post or holder, ensuring the tip is set at the correct center height before engaging the workpiece. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before changing or seating tool bits. Avoid side-loading the carbide tip beyond the rated cut-off geometry, as solid carbide is brittle and can fracture under lateral shock.
