The ACCUPRO ACC-HB035187 is a helical boring bar ground from submicron-grade solid carbide for small-diameter internal machining operations. It accepts a minimum bore diameter of 0.035 inches and reaches a maximum bore depth of 0.1875 inches (3/16 inches), making it well suited for precision work in tight passages. The shank diameter is 0.125 inches (1/8 inches) and the overall length is 1.5 inches (1-1/2 inches). A bright finish coating is applied to the flute geometry. The right-hand cutting direction follows standard lathe and boring mill conventions. This tool is installed by machinists and toolroom operators working in CNC turning centers, manual lathes, or dedicated boring machines.
This boring bar is designed for small-bore finish and semi-finish operations in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The helical geometry promotes chip evacuation in confined bores where straight-flute tools may pack. Typical applications include producing precision through-holes and blind bores in production machining, moldmaking, and instrument manufacturing environments where bore diameters below 0.040 inches are required. The submicron carbide grade provides the hardness and edge retention needed for consistent surface finish at these diameters.
Designed as a standard 0.125-inch shank helical boring bar for use in compatible boring bar holders, quick-change tooling systems, and live tooling setups that accept 1/8-inch round shank tools.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine control in an e-stop or locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. The shank should be secured with the minimum recommended overhang to reduce deflection at these small diameters. Runout should be verified with an indicator before cutting to protect the fragile edge geometry. Submicron carbide is brittle — avoid interrupted cuts, excessive overhang, or side loads that exceed the tool's rated bore depth.
