The ACCUPRO ACC-GS122F is a GS-style single point tool bit designed for cut-off and grooving operations on metal lathes and turning centers. The tool features a micrograin solid carbide tip brazed to a 3/8 inch by 3/8 inch steel shank, delivering the edge retention and wear resistance that carbide provides over high-speed steel in continuous or interrupted grooving cuts. Neutral cutting direction means the bit applies cutting force straight into the workpiece without side deflection, making it suitable for straight plunge grooving and parting applications. The full-radius geometry produces a smooth groove floor and consistent chip evacuation. Maximum depth of cut is 0.4 inches with a groove width range of 0.122 to 0.124 inches.
This tool bit is intended for use in manual lathes, CNC turning centers, and screw machines where precise, narrow groove profiles are required. It is appropriate for grooving operations on steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials in both production and job-shop environments. Machinists and toolroom operators working to close tolerances on O-ring grooves, retaining ring grooves, and parting applications will find the tight groove width range useful for maintaining dimensional consistency. The GS series designation corresponds to industry standard number GS-122F.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct fitment for tool holders accepting a 3/8 inch square shank single point tool bit in GS-series cut-off and grooving applications. Corresponds to industry standard number GS-122F.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the lathe or turning center before seating or adjusting the tool bit in the holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamping screws are tightened evenly to prevent chatter or tool shift under cutting load. Inspect the carbide tip for chipping or cratering before each use, as a compromised edge on a grooving bit can cause tool breakage or workpiece damage.
