The ACCUPRO ACC-GS046002 is a single point tool bit engineered for cut-off and grooving operations on metalworking lathes and turning centers. Built to the GS style, it features a micrograin solid carbide tip brazed to a rigid steel shank, delivering consistent edge retention and superior surface finish in grooving applications. The shank measures 3/8 inches in both width and height, making it a compact, versatile choice for toolholders sized to that cross-section. With a neutral cutting direction, it works straight into the workpiece without a left or right bias. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this bit for precision grooving where groove width and depth tolerances are tight.
This tool bit is suited for grooving operations on a range of materials where micrograin carbide provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for production or job-shop turning. The neutral orientation makes it adaptable for both OD grooving and parting setups on standard engine lathes, CNC turning centers, and manual turret lathes. It is installed by machinists and CNC turning technicians in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms requiring repeatable groove geometry. Typical applications include groove cutting, undercuts, and parting on steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for GS-style single point toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch square shank, consistent with the industry standard number GS-046002.
This tool bit is installed by qualified machinists or CNC turning technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before securing or adjusting the tool bit in the toolholder. Ensure the shank seats fully and squarely in the toolholder pocket and that all clamping screws are tightened to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating in a single pass on interrupted cuts or hard materials.
