The ACCUPRO ACC-G125-16 is a solid carbide retaining ring grooving tool designed for cutting internal grooves in bored holes. Built from submicron-grade carbide, it delivers consistent groove geometry in demanding machining applications. The tool features a 0.5-inch shank diameter, a 0.1260-inch groove width, and an overall length of 3.0 inches. It is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running lathes or boring operations where retaining ring grooves must meet tight dimensional tolerances. The submicron carbide grade provides a balance of hardness and toughness appropriate for steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials.
This grooving tool is used in precision internal grooving operations where retaining rings must seat accurately in a bored cavity. It accommodates a minimum hole diameter of 0.5 inches and can reach a maximum hole depth of 1.0 inch, making it practical for a range of shallow-to-moderate bore depths. It is a single-piece, solid carbide construction with no inserts to index or replace, which simplifies setup and reduces tooling changeover time on the machine.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide grooving tool for use in lathes and boring machines equipped with a standard 0.5-inch collet, ER collet chuck, or equivalent toolholder accepting a 0.5-inch round shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the 0.5-inch shank fully in a collet or chuck, confirming runout is within acceptable tolerance before cutting. Power down the machine and lock the spindle before changing or adjusting tooling. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the workpiece material or bore diameter, as solid carbide tools are rigid but can fracture under excessive lateral load.
