The ACCUPRO ACC-G069-4 is a solid carbide retaining ring grooving tool designed for internal grooving operations in machined bores. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for precise groove geometry in hardened and abrasive materials. The 3/8 inch shank diameter and 2.5 inch overall length make it suitable for use in standard collet chucks and toolholders on CNC lathes and boring mills. With a groove width of 0.0700 inches, this tool is configured specifically for retaining ring grooves in small-diameter bores, serving machinists and tool and die professionals in production and job shop environments.
This grooving tool is used in applications requiring accurate internal retaining ring grooves in workpieces with a minimum hole diameter of 0.3750 inches. Maximum hole depth capacity is 0.2500 inches, making it appropriate for shallow bore grooving in components such as hydraulic fittings, valve bodies, and precision mechanical assemblies. The 0.1100 inch projection provides the reach needed to cut at depth while maintaining tool stability. It is suited for both manual and CNC turning centers where consistent groove placement and repeatability are required.
Designed as a direct-fit retaining ring grooving tool for use in toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 3/8 inch shank, compatible with CNC turning centers and manual lathes configured for internal grooving operations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom procedures. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended grip length before operation to minimize runout and chatter. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and carbide tooling before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used if edge damage is present.
